After giving us a fun pop record with The Fame, and the overhyped mess that was Born This Way, singer Lady Gaga is promising that when she releases ARTPOP, this will be her first "real" album. In between touring in promotion of her Born This Way record, Gaga says the album, which she calls “an assault … on your mind, ears, body.” will have some of the craziest songs on it and is currently working on the album with dance producer Zedd.
Zedd told Digital Spy that the pair had been working on something "unique" and are not concerned with writing material purely to please her fanbase.
Zedd, whose real name is Anton Zaslavski, said that they haven't gone into the studio to limit themselves to one specific genre or song length and he was "not afraid to show her the least commercial idea I have".
He said: "She wants me to do the craziest songs I can possibly do. I'm not thinking about fitting a shoe on the right foot. We're doing something completely unique and what we think is new. She's not been saying, 'You need to please my fans so make the songs sound like this', we've just made music."
He went on to add: "She has a certain way of writing and she likes it to be challenged on the production."
Gaga says it will be “fun, dirty dance music.” which I'm sure is what her fans want to hear from her She also inaccurately compared herself to a phoenix rising from the ashes, and promised that once she's done with the tour she will take a 3-week break to tweak the album — which is just about done.
Lady Gaga is expected to release 'ARTPOP' later this year.
In other Gaga news, the singer wants everyone to know that she has sold 30 million bottles of her Fame perfume, and says that while the fragrance was designed for women, she finds a lot of her gay friends wearing it.
Wow! FAME the fragrance had officially sold 30 million bottles and is the 8th most successful brand for the year! Thank you fashionistas!
After being disappointed with BTW and the singer spending way too much time allowing the wacky clothes and the stunt queen antics to overshadow the lack of hits, I sincerely hope that ARTPOP will have some bite and not be full of overhyped bullshit.
