It looks like the punk and glam era of the 70's is about to get it's long-awaited due in the spotlight. With a film on the iconic CBGB rock & roll bar in the can, The Hollywood Repoter revealed that Death of a President director Gabriel Range has signed on to direct Lust for Life, a biopic that will follow the creative partnership of music legends David Bowie and Iggy Pop.
The film is being scripted by Robin French, and will be based on a number of biographies, said to include Paul Trynka's "Starman: David Bowie" and "Open Up and Bleed: Iggy Pop."
Todd Hayne's 1998 film Velvet Goldmine took inspiration from Bowie and Pop's 1970's British glam rock revoution, and even toyed with the sexual relationship alleged to have happened between Bowie and Mick Jagger (or did Bowie and Pop also have more than just a musical relationship?) Jonathan Rhys Meyers played the Bowie-esque role and Ewan McGregor as the faux Pop.
