M.I.A. TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN APRIL

All has been pretty quiet on the M.I.A. forefront, but the Sri Lankan rapper has announced that her long-awaited album will drop in April.


“It’s due in April, which is the Tamil new year – April 15th – and I’m still working on it.”

M.I.A. says her label delayed the album's release from last year because they found the sound “too positive.”

“I thought I’d finished it. I finished it and then I handed the record in, like a couple of months ago,” she said, noting that she was told to “darken it up a bit.” “It’s like ‘We just built you up as the public enemy No. 1 and now you’re coming out with all this positive stuff.’” When asked if she planned to comply with the advice, the famously defiant artist demurred. “I’m taking my time to decide what they mean.”

Based on their comment I'm still trying to understand what they fuck they mean and it's not even my record. I guess what they mean is that maybe they want a fun, less serious record. Who ever knows what the fuck these clueless record execs mean when they talk.
