DAVID BOWIE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN MARCH

Today happens to be David Bowie's 66th birthday, and as a bonus it was revealed that the rock icon plans to release a brand new album in March. The album, titled The Next Day will be the first album David has released of new material since 2003's Reality.

Bowie immediately went into promotion mode, launching a new website mere minutes after midnight ET and on his site he announced the release of the music video for the record’s first single, ‘Where Are We Now?’

Bowie's site revealed that ‘The Next Day’ will be released on March 8 in Australia, March 12 in the U.S.A. and March 11 everywhere else. You can pre-order the 14-track standard edition and a 17-track deluxe version of the album on iTunes, as well as the new single.

I wasn't alive when Bowie was making his influential mark on the musical world, but I got into him after I saw the movie Velvet Goldmine, which I heard was loosely based on his "affair" with Mick Jagger and the whole glam rock movement. Bowie is a musical genius and exquisite visionary, especially with his groundbreaking fashion choices in the 70's. He has influenced many people, including Marilyn Manson Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan, Madonna, Placebo and Lady Gaga, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars on DVD. Maybe more times than the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
