DEREK J RESPONDS TO RUMORS HE'S NOT A LICENSED HAIRSTYLIST

According to my reader who asked to remain anonymous, neither Derek J nor Lawrence are licensed to practice cosmetology in the state of Georgia. In fact, Lawrence’s cosmetology license was suspended last year after he applied for a license reinstatement — and the board leaned that he had been styling hair in Georgia for years on an expired license.

The board suspended Lawrence’s license for 2 years in accordance with a consent agreement that Lawrence signed last year. That means he cannot style hair in Georgia until his suspension is lifted in 2013.

On the other hand, Derek J has never held a cosmetology license to practice in Georgia. Derek does have a valid license in another state, which is not valid here in Georgia.

Derek said to Straight From The A that he is a licensed cosmetologist but in another state. He has applied for an application back in April. Derek, who considers himself a "traveling stylist" doesn't just do hair in Atlanta. He has been traveling all over the world.doing hair for his celebrity clientele.
So yes there is some truth to Derek not having a license in Georgia but he does have a license to be a professional cosmetologist. I say doing hair for celebrities is better for him because if he had to have a license for every state he traveled to he would never make any money. he'd be in school for the rest of his life.

As for Miss Lawrence, he cannot practice doing hair until March 31, 2014 after some complaints from his clients due to some of their hair damage. If you saw the Hairstylists Tell All episode of the Atlanta Housewives this past Sunday then you know that he and one of his well-known clients Sheree Whitfield had a falling out.

“I will always be Sheree’s friend. Now, whether she wants to be mine or not, I don’t have nothing to do with that, but me, I will always be Sheree’s friend,” said Lawrence, responding to gossip that he and Sheree are on the outs.

DISNEY BUYS LUCASFILM; STAR WARS EPISODE 7 COMING IN 2015

Here some major Hollywood news that's sure to get some people excited and some a little nervous. Disney has announced that they have acquired the rights to LucasFilm for a whopping $4 billion. Disney also revealed that a new Star Wars trilogy is in the works, with episode 7 coming out in 2015 with episodes 8 and 9 coming out in 2016 and 2017. george Lucas will not write or direct the trilogy. This is following major news of Disney purchasing Pixar and Marvel Entertainment.

They were also asked if there will be any Indiana Jones sequels in the works as well, but Disney said they want to concentrate on Star Wars for now. I don't think we'll be seeing Mickey Mouse traveling to Tatooine any time soon, but I have a feeling we might see Han Solo or some of your faves from the franchise make an appearance or three on Once Upon A Time. since they are planning to make a Star Wars Episode 7 I at least hope it makes sense to make one, since my favorite Star Wars movies were episodes 4-6. I know some are nervous because of the whole Disney brand, but Disney is great at making awesome visual masterpieces. Tron legacy wasn't a great movie by any means but it was visually stunning and had the potential to be great. I just hope since all of George Lucas' classic films are moving to a new home that Disney will do the franchise justice. Now all I want to know is when is the new season of Clone Wars coming back?

TOM CRUISE TALKS MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5

Since Mission: Impossible 4 was in my opinion the best film in the franchise and helped revive Tom Cruise's career as an action star, it shouldn't be a shocker that there is a fifth installment in the works, right?

While promoting his upcoming December film Jack Reacher, he revealed to Total Film that he and his team are looking to bring Ethan Hunt back for another movie.


“We’re already working on different images," says Cruise of a fifth Mission: Impossible film. "Talking conceptually. I love traveling around promoting different movies because I’m always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways... coming up with different sequences.”

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which came out in December 2011 has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide. If the audience stays strong for another sequel, Cruise thinks that the series could go on indefinitely.

"I’ll make as many as people want to see," he says. "because they’re very challenging and so much fun to make.”

In addition to his role as Jack Reacher and the Mission Impossible scoop, Tom is also in talks to replace Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing in an upcoming reboot. I actually like the Mission: Impossible movies and if Tom brings back Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames (the latter who was in all the films and showed up in the last five minutes of Ghost Protocol), then I am there opening night.

RiRi has definitely learned how to work the gimmicks to her advantage, but I have a hard time coming around to putting this much money out for someone who doesn't really take the time to put an album together. She releases new music every year and the dust hasn't even started collecting on her 2011 album Talk That Talk, which had three good songs and the rest sounded like scraped together songs she left on the cutting-room floor from previous albums. While I do like her music, I need to hear more from Unapologetic before I can even condiser buying the standard edition.

EMINEM TO DROP NEW ALBUM IN 2013

In a cryptic message (in the form of his hometown baseball cap with a backwards "E" logo on it) rapper Eminem has announced that he will be dropping the follow up to his 2010 album Recovery sometime next year.

Eminem has announced his 2013 return to the game via a Detroit Tigers-inspired cap on his website. Em’s online shop is selling a snapback featuring a backwards E on the front, with a list of years on the side “dedicated to the landmark Eminem solo albums.” And not only does that panel include the year 1996 for his largely ignored debut album Infinite, but it also lists 2013. Which means Shady’s follow-up to 2010′s Recovery is on the way.


Recovery was a return to form which earned him two Grammys and a chart-topping single, and in 2011 he released the gritty and excellent album Hell: The Sequel with Royce Da 5’9” under their moniker Bad Meets Evil. I'm excited for the new album and I hope that the new record will combine the grittiness of Recovery with the hilarious gems we got from his debut album, The Marshall Mathers LP.

MADONNA BOOED AT HER OWN CONCERT FOR ENCOURAGING FANS TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA

Speaking of Madonna in a previous post, over the weekend Madonna was booed at her own concert in New Orleans after encouraging her fans to vote for Obama in next week's primary election.

Here's what she told her fans on Saturday during a break between songs: "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama," she said, drawing boos and causing some fans to walk out. "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote."


While I love the fact when celebrities put their fame and face behind political issues if you go on political programs like Rachel Maddow, Cenk Uygur or Bill Maher, I don't think a concert is the place for it. I don't think it's the place for a performer to be telling people who they should vote for or that they need to believe or get involved with what your interests are. As someone who pays a lot of attention to the current political climate I don't need to be preached to about what's going on in the world, especially when so many of us are in a state of paranoia. It just puts you on this pompous high horse and makes you desperate for attention. On the other hand if her so-called fans were paying attention to all the media attention surrounding her current tour they would know that before she performs "Masterpiece" she always takes a moment to give them a history lesson. Personally I say leave the politics to the professionals and focus on giving your fans a good show.

MADONNA AND ELLEN TALK COMING OUT, MDNA, AND FAMILY

While we on the east coast had to miss Madonna's exclusive hour long interview on Ellen today (due to the fact that we are in the middle of a nasty hurricane), a few clips from the show have leaked online.

A few of the topics they talked about was that back in 1997 when rumors began to circulate through Hollywood that Ellen was coming out as a lesbian, Madonna, who had never met Ellen at the time called her up and offered her some words of encouragement. Madonna also came out on stage with a mask that she would use to cover her face whenever she didn't want to ask difficult questions and in alother clip (which I posted last week), Madonna sends her son Rocco to the dunk tank.

ANDERSON'S DAYTIME TALK SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELED

We're only two months into the current daytime talk show season and we've already got our first casualty. After two seasons of lackluster ratings and a new studio change, TV Guide is reporting that Fox will not renew Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show for a third season.

Besides a new studio change, the new season featured a different co-host to join Anderson in a hot topics segment, celebrity as well as real life interviews. I guess his officially coming out as a gay man to the public didn't help ratings as some had predicted as well.

"We are extremely proud of Anderson and the show that he and the entire production team have produced," Warner Brothers said in a statement Monday. "While we made significant changes to the format, set and produced it live in its second season, the series will not be coming back for a third season in a marketplace that has become increasingly difficult to break through."


I actually liked Anderson Live and thought after he came out he seemed more relaxed, funny and engaging with his audience. I also don't think out of the other shows this season his was not the worst. So now that Anderson Live is heading to the daytime graveyard, Ricki Lake, Jeff Probst, Maury Povich, Jeremy Kyle and Steve Harvey need to follow suit.

Some sad news today. Natina Reed who was part of the R&B trio Blaque has passed away at 32 years old. According to reports, she was struck by a car in Atlanta while crossing the street and the assailant took off without stopping or calling for help. What's worse is that her birthday is tomorrow and she is survived by her 10-year-old son, Tren Brown, with rapper Kurupt.

Since Lana is the only mainstream transsexual director in cinematic history, I hope her courage will give others a chance to try and forge a career in Hollywood as well or wherever genre of work they plan to dive into.

REESE RIDEOUT TALKS ABOUT BEING GAY FOR PAY

I heard about this episode while watching Chelsea Lately earlier this week, so of course I had to do some research on it more. VH1 has this show called I'm Married To A... where people talk about their bizarre relationships. In this particular episode which peaked my interest, producers sat down with Reese Rideout who is married to a woman but makes a living making gay porn films.

In the clip he talks about how he got into the porn business, but says he's not gay. When I look at his wife not only does she look uncomfortable, but she also looks bulimic and doesn't have all the screws together in her head. In my opinion I believe Reese is bisexual and uses the straight boy cloak and making more money making gay movies than if he makes straight porn films to justify his desires for men. I understand porn is a business and all, but I'm quite sick of straight boys with their mental bullshit taking thousands of dollars from the industry but pretending they don't actually get turned on having sedx with men, because there's no way in hell any amount of money will have a straight guy sleeping with men.

WATCH: PSY BRINGS HIS GANGNAM STYLE TO THE VIEW

After conquering most of the world with his Gangnam Style revolution, Psy crossed over to American shores to perform the global hit live on The View yesterday. Yes it's a novelty hit, but everytime I see Psy break out do the Gangnam Style dance I can't help but laugh. He even taught Joy Behar (who never dances on the show) and Sherri Shepherd how to do the choreography

CHERYL COLE WANTS TO CONQUER AMERICA WITH FOURTH ALBUM

After dropping three mediocre solo albums, will.i.am is still trying to make Cheryl Cole happen. Her first attempt to conquer America was short-lived when she was fired from the first season of The X Factor after filming two episodes. She went on to release a new album that only had one minor hit, the Calvin Harris-produced Call My Name, she's releasing a new calendar for 2013 (see pic above), and she's rauniting and heading out on tour with the ladies of Girls Aloud next year to promote their final record, the Greatest Hits album Ten.

Now comes word that Will wants to push some American success upon Cheryl by having her take more of an urban approach to her fourth album. Now word on what popular producers he will have Cheryl work with, but so far he's recruited Snoop Dogg (who will jump on anyone's track these days) for the project.

“I will work with Cheryl, that is for sure,” Snoop told the Daily Star. “It’s going to happen. Hip-hop sells in America and that is the direction her manager will.i.am wants to take her.”


“I have already talked with him about collaborating with her on her next album and I am down with it. He’s got some big names planned for her and is talking with Eminem as well. It’s going to get real big for Cheryl.”

If Cheryl wants to break into the American market, since she is a horrible singer live (see the Stand Up To Cancer video I posted a few days ago below to see what I mean), she needs to take the Britney Spears/Rihanna approach to her music and buy some of the hottest tracks out there but lip sync for her life everytime she gets on stage. A few high profile names she needs to hook up with are Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Calvin Harris (again), Rico Love, Danja, Bangladesh, Pharrell, Frank Ocean and Timbaland. Have your team of people also look for any up and coming urban producers who have a different sound you can make your own.

Please do not let will.i.am produce any beats for you. All the songs you have worked on with him in the pass are hideous and he can't even produce any hot shit for himself. If this album does not bring a mismash of hot urban tracks with some international dance tracks, then I think it might be best if you renegotiate your contract with the ladies of Girls Aloud and you all stay together, because besides the few crossover singles Cheryl has released all of them have failed to have the breakout success they so desperately want.

If you ever come to NYC, Le Boy Bar hands-down has some of the best  go go dancers because not only do I have a weakness for latin men (since I have some latin blood in my veins), but most of them have body, face, ass and dick for days.

While the song is most certainly catchy as hell, the same can't be said about the atrocious lyrics. At least if Amsterdam pop star Tao Hypah is trying to play the role of the woman and snatch Adam Lambert's style, the least you could do is come all the way out of the closet. I do think the song does have the potential to get him some success, and the chorus stays in your head, but he needs to work with someone like say Dr. Luke or some hot producers from Sweden if he wants to cross American shores.

SOLANGE REVEALS TRUE TRACK LISTING

Say what you want about Beyonce's less famous sister Solange, but one thing I will say about her that triumphs over her sisters legacy is that Solange is a risk taker when it comes to her music.

After releasing her recent single Losing You, she has revealed the track listing for a seven-track EP called True and even previewed some of the tracks in New York recently. The EP, which was produced by Blood Orange‘s Dev Hynes (Sky Ferreira) and Ariel Rechtshaid, will be available to digital retailers on November 27. Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams is still one of my favorite albums, and while Bey has a knack for making mainstream hits, she could learn a thing or three from her sister in regards of substance in her music.

VIDEO: PITBULL Feat. TJR - DON'T STOP THE PARTY

Global Warming will be soon upon us as tropical storm Mr. Worldwide will be blowing into a town near you to promote his upcoming album. In the meantime, he has unleashed the music video for his new track Don't Stop The Party which features TJR. It features the usual shit you would expect from Pitbull - the rapper spewing some shit that makes no sense lyrically over a dance beat while surrounded by women in an exotic location, this time the setting is on a yacht. A bonus for moi is that we do get to see Pitbull shirtless.

Global Warming, which will feature Chris Brown, Shakira, Christina Aguilera and more will be in stores on November 19.
