Paramount Pictures (via Yahoo! Movies) has unleashed a brand spankin' new trailer for the film G.I Joe: Retaliation, which stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson.
In the sequel, which will be out on March 29th, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
G.I. Joe: Retliation is directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro's G.I. Joe characters.
As a fan of G.I. Joe (I had all the action figures when I was a kid) I wasn't really fond of the first movie because it had too much campiness and explosions, and not enough story for me to get excited about. With the additions of Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis I'm hoping it will be a big, fun popcorn movie like Fast 5 and a bit more character development. Getting rid of Marlon Wayans and expanding Channing Tatum's role (since his status as a movie star started to rise around the time of filming) was also a smart idea since it's alleged his character dies in the new movie.
