TRUE BLOOD STAR SHIFTS INTO MUSIC
Janina Gavankar, best known as Sam Merlotte's shap-shifting girlfriend Luna on True Blood is now transitioning into music. While I have seen plenty of actresses attempt to try their hand at music and fail miserably (Kat Graham anyone?), Janina's foray into music and her music video for Waiting For Godot is absolutely breathtaking. I was quite shocked that she would pull off something so visually arresting for her debut and I have to say it could definitely rival any video put out by Bjork.
I also had no idea that she is a classically trained vocalist and pianist at the University of Illinois and at one point she was signed to Cash Money Records. Glad that last deal fell through the cracks because you can clearly see their female artist over there is about to be sent to the loony bin. Also they lack creativity over at that label which means you wouldn't have been able to pull off such a visually orgasmic video, which was clearly inspired by Samuel Beckett’s legendary 20th century play. I would most definitely love to hear more music from her and see her balance both a career in music in film, because while there are plenty of actresses who need to stop singing, Janina actually has talent.
Check out the video, which was directed by Caitlin Pashalek below...
