Now that Spartacus is coming to an end when it airs it's final season in January, I will admit I haven't been paying much attention to the original programming over at the STARZ network. My feelings soon may change once the new original series Da Vinci’s Demons airs. The show, which was created by David S. Goyer (co-writer of Man of Steel, The Dark Knight trilogy and writer of the Blade trilogy) is about Leonardo Da Vinci’s life as a young man (played by Tom Riley) who is tortured by a gift of superhuman genius. As the plot of the series explains, “He finds himself in the midst of a storm that has been brewing for centuries. A conflict between truth and lies, religion and reason, past and future. His aspirations are used against him by the opposing forces of the time—luring him into a game of seduction where those who despise his intellect need him most. Facing an uncertain future, his quest for knowledge nearly becomes his undoing as he explores the fringes of his own sanity. Da Vinci throws himself into his genius and emerges as an unstoppable force that lifts an entire era out of darkness and propels it into light.”
Since I did like The DaVinci Code (and I'm sure this is the audience David is going for as well as the audience that likes shows like Game of Thrones and The Borgias), I'm thinking STARZ may have another hit on it's hands. But then again I thought the same thing about their Camelot series and the canceled it after one season. Check out the trailer below!
