And the honest gloves continue to come off. While Nicki Garbaj is still delusional to think that she's the only female artist to have paved the way for black women in hip hop to do what she is doing today (when in fact if it wasn't for Roxanne Shante, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Eve and countless femcees from the 70's, 80's and 90's and noughties who didn't bring what they brought to hip hop at the height of their careers, Nicki wouldn't be able to look like the clown she does on a daily basis), and that older women write her off and don't give her manufactured ass the respect she feels she deserves, TLC singer T-Boz has some choice words for her.
When T-Boz was asked by ThisIsMax about being famous vs. being talented, she kept it real and said that just because you are on TV acting a fool and exposing you body parts does not mean that you are a superstar.
She didn't mention Nicki by name, but T-Boz said she no longer supports singing competition shows because they're not about the people trying to get a record deal. Many of the judges on the show do not give these kids coming up a true idea of what it will take to make it in the business once the show is over, which is why you never see many of them with a career like some of the lucky ones, such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood or Adam Lambert. I've said it a million times over that I do not feel that Nicki has proven herself as an actual knowledgeable artist to be critiquing actual singers, especially when she's not even a singer herself. There are much bigger legends such as Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Patti LaBelle who can sing circles around these dime store divas and yet they don't get the respect because producers look at things from the standpoint of who is hot right now instead of hiring someone who will actually be benefitial to the wannabe singers who want to have the longgevity of a legend like Mariah Carey.
I say if machines are basically singing the songs for you, you're not a singer which is why I'm still wondering what the hell was Simon thinking about hiring glassy-eyed Britney Spears to judge singers on The X Factor. T-Boz, who also has a reality show of her own in the works with TLC (the channel) also threw shade at a certain no-talent Armenian barbie doll who's claim to fame is getting her fat back blown out on a sex tape: “You’re on TV gyrating and boning and sucking penises. It’s not talent, honey. Maybe in the porn industry but over here we entertain. We sing songs, we write, we dance, that's we do. That's an artist and that's why they last longer and have longgevity."
