JAMIE FOXX TALKS PLAYING ELECTRO IN SPIDER MAN SEQUEL
Late last month when news leaked that Jamie Foxx may be in talks to play the villain Electro in The Amazing Spider Man sequel, director Marc Webb spoke to ComingSoon.net and he revealed that if everything goes to plan, Foxx is indeed his top choice. Last Thursday, Access Hollywood spoke with the comic/actor and learned that, while he definitely wants to play Electro, the role isn't entirely his just yet.
“Fingers crossed it all works out,” Foxx says. "...I have a little daughter, four years old, and what’s crazy is like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme... I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy!"
The character of Electro has never definitively appeared on the big screen, though some fan speculation has suggested that the mysterious figure (played by Michael Massee) featured in The Amazing Spider-Man's end credits was, in fact, our first look at the character. First appearing in 1964's "The Amazing Spider-Man" #9, Electro's real name is Max Dillon and he has the power to control electricity.
Besides Electro, the role of Harry Osborn has yet to be cast as well. Top three names tossed around to play Peter Parker's best friend turned villain: Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro) and Brady Corbert (Melancholia). if all else fails they can always rehire James Franco.
Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley are attached to star in the May 2, 2014 release, with a script from Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt.
