A few months back I talked about a lawsuit pending in Florida that was trying to ban male strippers from swinging their Richards at the Swinging Richards nightclub.
So yesterday victory was won when North Miami Beach’s city council not only unanimously decided to allow nude dancing in Swinging Richards, but at local lady establishments, Dean’s Gold and G5ive.
In 1994 North Miami Beach banned male and female liquor licensed strip clubs from going full nude, but didn't fully enfource the law until November 2011, when word got out that strippers shaking their money maker at a gay establishment.
Swinging Richards owner CB Jones felt his constitutional rights were being voilated and sued the city for discrimination back in April.
Because North Miami Beach can't afford a lawsuit on their hands, Swinging Richards dropped their suit in exchange for attaining a new license allowing a mixture of flowing booze and swinging balls. Unfortunately, the only way other establishments can secure the same privilege is to follow Swinging Richards' lead and sue the city as well.
“I appreciate the city recognizing that we males have the right to dance nude also,” Jones said.
I personally wish people would get over their hang-ups when it comes to nudity and the male gender and allow people to make their money as they see fit. I wish our New York politicians were less prudish (thank you Rudy Giuliani for being a club nazi during your mayoral run) when it comes to gay establishments and the lack of clothing some of our go go boys wear, and allow male and female dancers to live in naked harmony.
