LEONA LEWIS REVEALS SHE ORIGINALLY SANG RIHANNA'S WE FOUND LOVE
Even though she has released a plethora of hot singles over the last seven years, everybody knows that the biggest hit of Rihanna's pop music career is the international smash We Found Love. But did you know the song almost belonged to Leona Lewis?
The X-Factor UK winner revealed to The Daily Star that she originally recorded the Calvin Harris-produced track, but then the DJ/producer opted to go with the Bajan beauty instead
Here is what Lewis told the Daily Star: 'I worked with Calvin and we recorded We Found Love. But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up releasing it.
'I didn't commit to it because I wanted Trouble to be my [next] single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna. It was the same version and production but mine's better.'
Leona says she still has her version, but will never release it because 'That's so unprofessional." She continues, 'It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit it was around the world but if I'd released it maybe it wouldn't have done as well.'
I'm sure Leona, who could really use a hit is kicking herself for not choosing it has her single, because I would love to hear her version. Trading songs is nothing new in the music business, since lots of artists get their hands on other songs before someone of bigger status winds up recording it for their own albums. Mary J. Blige originally sang Titanium before David Guetta opted to use Sia's emotional vocals, and Madonna re-recorded Turn Up The Radio for her MDNA album. The song was originally supposed to be on producer Martin Solveig's Smash album ( co-written and featuring vocals by Sunday Girl), but he opted not to use it after their other collaboration Let's Not Play Games became a bigger smash (no pun intended).
Leona's third album Glassheart will be released this week.
