ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER TO STAR IN LEGEND OF CONAN

Deadline is reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as Conan, the series that made him a famous action star.

The actor, who starred in 1982's Conan the Barbarian and in 1984's Conan the Destroyer, will reprise his role as the Cimmerian warrior in The Legend of Conan, a new Robert E. Howard adaptation in the works from Universal Pictures.

No word on what the plot of the film will be, but word on the street is that it will be a direct sequel of Conan The Barbarian and ignore Conan The Destroyer (my favorite of the series) and the extremely violent 2011 remake which starred actor Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones)
“The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make,” producer Frederik Malmberg tells the site about where The Legend of Conan picks up. “It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle.”

In addition to Arnold working on the Conan sequel, Schwarzenegger has a few movies in the works. He starred in the summer blockbuster Expendables 2, will star in The Last Stand which is coming out in early 2013 and is currently in pre production on the action movie Ten. He will also re-team with Sly Stallone in The Tomb. The Legend of Conan is slated for a summer 2014 release.

While I know everyone loves a comback, does anyone really want to see a man close to 70 playing a half-naked warrior? It also doesn't help that ever since he released that ratchet ass book that only 20,000 people bought his image has come across as douchy. While I don't usually let people's personal life affect how I watch films, there are exceptions like Mel Gibson and Arnold that I can't help but not get turned off when I see them on my TV screen. Only time and box office receipts will tell if the rest of America and abroad feel the same.
