ZAC EFRON TALKS LOVE FOR GAY FANS
When the trailer was first released for The Paperboy, many people were talking about a scene where Zac Efron dances in his tighty-whities with Nicole Kidman and another scene where he gets peed on by the actress after getting stung by a jellyfish. Zac, who is no stranger to gay rumors in his personal life took some time out to talk to The Advocate about working on the film (which was helmed by out director Lee Daniels) and his gay fans
On Working With Lee Daniels:
"I’ve always just embraced Lee as a brilliant artist, so I followed him blindly, trustingly, and wholeheartedly," Efron says. "He’s searching for beauty and truth in every scene, so I believed in him and always felt safe."
On His Gay Fans::
Efron goes on to state, "I’ve always felt embraced by the gay community, and I feel incredibly grateful and honored," and says "without question I had gay role models." He also mentions that a fan made him a shirt that reads “Some Dudes Marry Dudes. Get Over It.” (after a Photoshopped image of him wearing a similar shirt surfaced on blogs), and he may wear it in public some day.
Efron, who I have noticed is definitely trying to shed his High School Musical persona for edgier independent films also revealed in the interview that he feels comfortable tlking about himself, wouldn't rule out playing gay on the big screen and doesn't mind being seen as a sex object by either gender. it should also be known that Zac barely wears any clothing throughout the movie, so for those of you who lust after the actor, this just might be the film for you. If they ever plan to make a sequel to Brokeback Mountain, be sure to give Zac a call.
