Employment for black men may not be going up in the real world, but in TV land it seems to be doing quite well. First Michael Strahan made his official debut as permanent co-host on Live with Kelly & Michael, and now former 106 & Park co-host Terrence J. has replaced Ryan Seacrest as the permanent co-host of E! News.
Here is what E!’s President of Network Strategy had to say about why Terrence was chosen as Giuliana Rancic's co-host:
“Terrence Jenkins is a talented and well-connected television personality who will bring an original sensibility to our news programs. Coupled with lead anchor Giuliana Rancic’s proven experience, [Jenkins' arrival] should help cement ‘E! News” stature as the leading source for news across pop culture.
Here is what Terrence had to say about his new E! gig:
“I’ve always had a passion for the wide spectrum of pop culture that E! News covers so well; I can’t wait to get started. I’ve had a great career so far, and it’s all been building toward this.”
Maybe now that Terrence is on E! we can actually get more stories told about black celebrities who aren't Beyonce, Kanye West, Diddy, Rihanna, Oprah or anyone black who has been arrested, since that's the only thing these mainstream gossip shows want to talk about.
Terrence will officially join the E! family on November 12.
