I bet he didn't see this one coming (sorry...couldn't resist). Stevie Wonder has come under fire after comments he made in The Guardian over Frank Ocean's sexuality. The music icon was asked his thoughts on Frank Ocean revealing that his first love was a man, to which Stevie responded by saying, “Some people who think they’re gay, they’re confused…People can misconstrue closeness for love. People can feel connected, they bond. I’m not saying all [gay people are confused].”
Since Stevie received a backlash from the LGBT community over his comments, the singer has apologized for what he said and clarified what was said in the interview:

I’m sorry that my words about anyone feeling confused about their love were misunderstood. No one has been a greater advocate for the power of love in this world than I; both in my life and in my music. Clearly, love is love, between a man and a woman, a woman and a man, a woman and a woman and a man and a man. What I’m not confused about is the world needing much more love, no hate, no prejudice, no bigotry and more unity, peace and understanding. Period.”
I do feel in a time where there are wars against anyone who has different beliefs (be it religion, sexuality, or skin color), the one thing we should all be spreading to one another is love. The only time gays are confused is when they are trying to understand their sexual feelings, that society and their religious backgrounds tell them day in and day out is wrong. Love and sexuality is complex, and can't be defined simplyy by whoever they connect with at the time. I totally got what Stevie was saying in his original comment, but clearly what he said would have been best explained in a filmed interview instead of on paper because no one can ever get the tone of what you're saying when it's written. Trust me I've had people take things I've said in the wrong context based on what I wrote instead of them hearing me say it.
