For those of you who do not live in San Francisco, it is perfectly legal for patrons to roam the streets naked without getting arrested for indecent exposure (as long as you're not aroused). But word on the street is that an openly gay SF supervisor is strongly considering putting a ban on public nudity due to the rise of men openly wearing cock rings in the Castro.
Porn stars Jesse Ayres filmed his music video Porn Star while naked and walking down the street in the Castro, and earlier this year Marc Dylan (above) filmed himself naked walking down the street, shopping and eating for all to see.
Here's what Supervisor Wiener told the Bay Area Reporter about the ban consideration due to complaints: “People can have whatever view they want to have on public nudity in general. But to be walking around with a cock ring on or something similar is just not acceptable [or] responsible behavior,” said Weiner. “The whole purpose of a cock ring is to draw attention to that area.”
For those who do walk around wearing cock rings, they say cock rings are no different than the regular jewelry that people wear. It's just on a part of the body that people always look at with shame: “Men have been told they will be arrested on the spot if they are wearing a cock ring,” said naturalist advocate Mitch Hightower. “Since Pride people have reported to me of being hassled for wearing cock rings. I don’t wear one but I have observed [it].”
I wonder if people are complaining that guys who are out of shape are walking around naked wearing cock rings, or does their complaints reach farther than this? Besides, if someone does happen to get arounsed it's not something that can be stopped immediately. Erections are a part of life and I wish people would get over their hang-ups whenever it comes to nudity.
