FIRST LOOK: TEASER TRAILER FOR NEW GAY SERIES SKIN DEEP

While TV networks have yet to catch on to a few well-written gay-themed shows that are doing quite well online that weren't created by Ryan Murphy (Anacostia, The Outs, Where The Bears Are to name a few), I have been hungry for a new gay series featuring men of color since Logo prematurely canceled Noah's Arc. Well I just discovered a brand new scripted series called Skin Deep, which about six gay men in Atlanta who deal with the struggles of love, career, culture, and sexuality that often plague the community. The show so far is only a 10-minute pilot, but what writer/creator/producer David Summers hopes to do is shop it around to various producers and networks such as HBO, Showtime, AMC, FX, Logo, and any other network looking to pick up the show.

I say take it everywhere except Logo, because just like Noah's Arc, that sorry excuse for a network is not willing to let a bunch of black gays be the ones to bring their network the big ratings unless you walk around in a wig and a dress. It's been a long time since I've seen a show that has got me going with some decent acting, unapologetic sex scenes and good writing (like my faves Noah's Arc and Queer As Folk) and here's hoping that Skin Deep gives me exactly what I need - drama, sex, and more drama. Personally I say just make it as a web series, raise the money on Kickstarter and when you have a shitload of Youtube or for more explicit content Vimeo viewers, the networks will come along.
