It's been a long time coming and it's finally here. Seven years later we finally got two new tracks from Missy called 9th Inning and Triple Threat, which will be on her oft-delayed album Block Party. If you can't tell the beat was produced by Timbaland. Speaking of Timbaland, I was wondering who Timbaland was referring to when he was talking about Lady Gaga. We know she likes to plagarize other people's work, but what producer was he talking about bit off his style?
While I sit and try to figure out who Timbo was talking about, he and Missy stopped by Angie Martinez's show yesterday to give their thoughts on the new Aaliyah album that Drake and his producer Noah "40" Shebib are working on.
“My response would be a little different because I have to respect her family and until they come and say we’re ready to do an Aaliyah album, then I don’t really want to try and get into that because it’s really sensitive,” explained Missy.
Missy also stated what I 've been saying everytime I talk about this story, that she doesn't think Aaliyah, who was a perfectionist would want unfinished songs she didn't approve of being released to the masses.
“We’re talking about unfinished music and we don’t know her reasoning for not putting those records out,” said Missy. “Maybe she didn’t feel like they were her best work. We don’t want to tap into that. It’s spiritually something else, very, very touchy—unless her parents came in and conducted that.”
While Timbaland questioned Drake’s Aaliyah tattoos, Missy was more understanding. “He’s a human being too and a lot of people might not have met Michael Jackson, but feel a connection with him.”
Regardless of either opinion, I would still lfeel weird having someone release my music if I wasn't physically present to give my seal of approval.
