ANDRA FULLER TALKS PLAYING A CLOSETED GAY RAPPER ON THE L.A. COMPLEX
If you have never seen a single episode of the CW series The L.A. Complex, then you have no idea what you are missing. The show, which is from Canada was created by the same people who gave us Degrassi: The Next Generation (a show that spawned Drake's career). What I love about the series is that it's as close as we'll get to a real portrayal of what it takes to make it in the music, TV and film industry.
Actor Andra Fuller, who plays closeted rapper Kaldrick King recently gave his thoughts on why he decided to play a gay rapper on the show.
“When I accepted this role and what it entailed, my family and friends were like, ‘Why do you want to play a gay dude?’ They also wanted to know why every time a Black man is shown on TV as gay; he has to be on the down low. But they didn’t look at the ramification: I’m playing a very successful down low rapper on a network television show. That’s never happened before.”
The L.A. Complex, which is currently in it's second season airs on Monday nights at 8 on the CW.
