Remember back a few years ago during the Element of Freedom era Alicia Keys shot a music video for Put It In A Love Song with Beyonce that was shot in Brazil? I even remember posting stills from the video on this here blog so it was apparent that there was a video that was supposed to come out. Soon after there was no longer mention of the video and I completely forgot about it...until now.
Finally Alicia has broken her silence to Essence Magazine as to why the video was shelved:
Ohhh man! Y’all aren’t going to leave me alone about that! Sometimes with creative things [it] all comes together and it’s (makes perfection kissing noise) and sometimes things almost come together and it’s better to just leave it. So we love that song. We had a ball shooting the video. It just so happens that the whole thing, for some reason or another, didn’t quite come together so we just decided to leave it. And that’s what happened.
So basically the idea was great until reality hit and they had to shoot the music video, which most likely was a hot ass mess. I still think they should have released it anyway and left it up to the fans to decide whether or not it was a good video, because at the end of the day it was money wasted.
