WATCH: RIHANNA BREAKS DOWN WHILE TALKING TO OPRAH ABOUT CHRIS BROWN
In what is being hyped as the best hour in television this Sunday (and a much-needed ratings spike on Oprah's OWN network), little bits and pieces have been leaking from Lady O's exclusive interview with pop superstar Rihanna, and one of the things everyone is curious about is how Rihanna has been coping since her public beatdown at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, singer Chris Brown. Ever since their break up the tabloids have them hooking up, sneaking off together for sexual rendezvous, getting into twitter fights, and even Chris and Drake at one point wound up getting into bottle throwing matches in a New York City club over the singer (something I never believed as the reason behind their public quarrel).
During the interview, RiRi said that while it was wrong what he did to her, she immediately went into battered woman role and felt the need to protect him because people were going in on him hard for giving her face the Ike Turner Special.
"I lost my best friend, like everything I knew switched in a night. I couldn’t control that and I had to deal with that so it wasn’t easy for me to understand or interpret. And it’s not easy to interpret on camera with the world watching. So it’s hard for me to pay attention to my mind and figuring things out because now it became a circus and I felt protective. I felt like the only person that they hate right now is him and it was a weird confusing space to be in. Cause’ As angry as I was, as hurt and betrayed, I felt that he made that mistake because he needed help. Who’s going to help him? Nobody is going to say, ‘he needs help’. Everyone is going to say he’s a monster without looking at the source. I was more concerned about him."
I'm not going to give my full opinion of this interview until I watch the entire thing on Sunday. In the meantime, watch a clip of her talking about Chris below...
