WANDA SYKES TO HOST ELECTION COVERAGE ON LOGO

In an announcement that surprised me since all Logo shows is countless reruns of other Viacom shows and RuPaul's Drag Race marathons, the network that was supposed to bea geared towards the LGBT audience has nabbed Out comic Wanda Sykes to headline their election coverage.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Logo will air two specials before the highly-anticipated November election. The first will air directly after the Democrats and Republicans wrap up their national conventions and the other hits the waves on election eve. Both are being hosted by out comedienne Wanda Sykes, who said "I'm excited to be working with Logo, the network that offers a voice to the LGBT community."

"These specials will be thought provoking, exciting and the perfect forum to discuss important issues facing our community. Plus, it is Logo so maybe I'll get to dress in drag!”

Here's what Logo's General Manager Lisa Sherman had to say about the upcoming specials: "While there has been much progress in civil rights for LGBT Americans over the course of the past few years, this is a crucial time for our community and our quest for equality on all fronts. Wanda will be the perfect host for the specials, providing her one-of-a-kind take on LGBT concerns and challenges."

I love Wanda but why is she being lumped in with this sinking ship? Besides RuPaul's Drag Race and 1 Girl, 5 Gays, the channel is unwatchable, especially since all they show is reruns of shows like Daria, 16 & Pregnant, True Life and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, all shows that have nothing to do with being gay. They even showed a marathon of Jersey Shore once, as if you don't get to see enough of the show on MTV. I'm also surprised that after the many political strides we've made with DADT and marriage equality, Logo waits until the upcoming election to even acknowledge LGBT politics? While I am very cynical whenever it comes to anything Logo represents, I'm curious to see how both specials are executed.
