JOSS WHEDON TO DEVELOP LIVE ACTION MARVEL SERIES FOR ABC

Joss Whedon, who gave me some the best shows of my young adult life such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Dollhouse, and the successful summer film The Avengers is developing a live-action series for ABC featuring some of the characters from the Marvel universe.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that not only is Whedon developing the ABC series, but he will return to write and direct the upcoming Avengers sequel. For those living under a rock, Whedon, 48, wrote and directed the first movie, which, in Hulk speak SMASHED records for largest opening weekend ever ($207 million) in May and has since grossed $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office.

So far we have no idea which characters will make it on the series (I am curious as to what's happening with the rumored Hulk TV series), but this will be the first show Whedon has worked on since Fox canceled his short-lived Eliza Dushku series Dollhouse two years ago. And while I trust in Whedon wholeheartedly, I am nervous about this show being on ABC, especially since doing a show about superheroes could prove quite expensive and let's not forget about the short-lived superhero show No Ordinary Family last season. Sure the show was a bit of a mess, but genre shows don't necessarily have a great track record of surviving on a major network. My mind is racing with Marvel shows would do great on TV. I would love to see Daredevil be turned into a TV series. I personally think it would work much better on the small screen than in theaters, especially since you can do Law & Order-style courtroom scenes and mix it with high-octane action. Or how about giving Blade another try? I felt the show wasn't done it's justice on Spike and if done right it could be a cool show for ABC. But then again, Blade is a show that would probably do much better on a basic cable channel like AMC or FX due to it's edgy subject matter.

Dr. Strange and Black Panther are my other two choices that I would like to see brought to the small screen. Hell, I'd even like to see a Black Widow spin-off on the small screen since I doubt she'll ever get her own movie on the big screen. Since there's a lack of diversity on the big screen, where else would you be allowed to experiment than on the smaller networks? If the networks could just leave Joss be and allow him to do his thing, I guarantee you that he will give them their money's worth because he is one of the most brilliant writer/directors working today.
Who do you think would be a great character (that hasn't been overdone) that should get their due on TV?
