DR. LUKE SAYS KE$HA'S NEW ALBUM WILL FEATURE MORE OF HER NATURAL VOICE

For the past few weeks we've heard little details about Ke$ha's upcoming second full-length album. We know it will feature some hot dance tracks from frequent collaborator Dr. Luke, some 70's punk rock inspirations from the likes of Iggy Pop, The Black Keys and The Flaming Lips, and the titles of songs that are planning to be on the album such as “Supernatural,” “Die Young,” “Last Goodbye,” and “Crazy Kids.”

Recently Dr. Luke himself spilled the tea about the follow-up to 2010′s Animal and the EP Cannibal will feature more of Ke$ha's actual singing voice and less of the processed sounds that dominated her debut and the EP that shortly followed.

“You’re going to hear her voice more,” says Dr. Luke of the forthcoming album. “She asked for less production tricks and stuff like that this time. There are more guitars on the record now, too; on [Animal] Ke$ha was the one who told me, ‘Under no circumstance will I have any guitars on the record.’ That wasn’t really my call. So we made those without guitars. This record we’re allowed to use a little guitar.”

But don't expect Ke$ha to get all boring and go all Mariah Carey on us: “You’re going to hear an artist that’s grown and is evolving, but it’s Ke$ha,” Dr. Luke says. “She’s no choir girl yet.”

I'm actually fond of the silly raps and the fun pop tracks, but those people out there who say Ke$ha can't sing are just being tools, because I've seen her concert and she does sing live. Sure the processed vocals are added for dramatic effect and is used for nothing more but to provide ear candy, but Ke$ha does sound better than the long list of flat, vocally-challenged pop singers the new generation of hearing-impaired music listeners hold on a high pedestal.
