ABC FAMILY GREEN LIGHTS JENNIFER LOPEZ LESBIAN DRAMA

Last month I brought you all the news that Jennifer Lopez was developing a lesbian drama for ABC Family, a series that she will also make the occasional appearance on. Now comes word that the network, home to shows like the now-canceled Greek and the hit series Pretty Little Liars (both shows which featured out characters) has given the show a go.

The series, titled Fosters,  follows two mommies—a cop and a teacher—who are raising adopted twins and a biological son.

It should come as no susprise that with the success of shows such as Modern Family every network is trying to launch a show of their own that falls into that vein. NBC has their own show coming this fall called The New Normal and CBS has a sitcom on their roster called Partners. Fosters will be Executive-produced by J-Lo, Bradley Bredeweg and Queer as Folk‘s Peter Paige (best known for his role as Emmett Honeycut).
I'm always excited whenever we get a show geared for the LGBT aaudience on TV, because I've been saying for the longest that we definitely need our stories told since we have become such a hot topic in the media. Fingers crossed that the show is a success because there is definitely a drought in LGBT entertainment.
