AALIYAH'S BROTHER RASHAD SHUTS DOWN ALBUM AND BIO-PIC RUMORS

While Drake is apparently over the moon in regards to his new single with the late, great Aaliyah, it seems the Haughton family is none too pleased with the release. On Sunday, to my surprise, a new track featuring the R&B songbird's vocals called Enough Said leaked online, and while most of the reviews have been positive, Aaliyah's brother Rashad took to his sister's Facebook fan page to shut down any rumors regarding a new Aaliyah album.

“there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.” -Rashad Haughton (regarding upcoming album release rumors)

The single cover features the logo of her label Blackground Records, which is run by her uncle Barry Hankerson. What I'm getting from this is that while rumors are swirling that Drake and his producing partner Noah ’40′ Shebib are producing a posthumous Aaliyah album and Timbaland producing at least two tracks, Aaliyah immediate family will not partake in the record industry's exploitation of the singer.
He also shut down rumors of a bio-pic based on his sister's life: "No female I've seen can play my sister."

While I do agree with the latter, we don't really know much about Aaliyah's personal life. All that is common knowledge is that she was briefly married to R. Kelly when she was 15 and she dated Dame Dash up until her death. There's nothing really scandalous to report about Aaliyah, and while I would welcome a new album from the singer, the songs are over a decade old and being that she was a perfectionist, I don't see how they could make a new album work unless they flood it with a laundry list of rappers who will desecrate her name by bombarding the record with unnecessaty F, S and N-bombs. I just feel that it's disrespectful for Drake or anybody to be working on someone else's music without them being here to give their blessing. Or at least with the permission of the family. It's just coming across like Drake wants to make money off the dead and it will most likely get him ugly protests from hardcore fans.

Take a listen to the Drake-less version of Enough Said below, which sounds like an unfinished demo...
