Hours after Steven Tyler announced that he will not be returning to American Idol next season, word on the street is that producers of the show are looking at Mariah Carey to replace him as a judge on the show. Last night E! News asked Mimi's hubby Nick Cannon if he had heard anything about this, and like a good husband should he didn't confirm or deny. But People is reporting that producers are in serious talks with the singer, who is currently putting the finishing touches on her 11th studio album.
“They are in serious talks,” a source tells the publication.
Now should Mimi agree to be a part of the show, this may push Jennifer Lopez to make up her mind and decide (most likely) not to return to the show, especially since there's no way they can have two high maintenance divas sharing the stage together, and it's common knowledge that they do not like each other.
For those who may not remember, Mimi has had bitter feelings towards J Lo after she felt the pop performer stole her urban pop sound back when she put out the J. Lo hip hop remix album.
I actually think since The X Factor were not able to grab Mimi, AI should act quickly, and if Mimi is smart she will jump at the opportunity, because the last big hit she has had on the Billboard charts is Obsessed, and we all know that thest singing shows is how you revive your music career (Maroon 5, Xtina and J Lo are perfect examples of this). So I say get Adam Lambert and Mariah on the show ASAP and I will most definitely watch.
