LIFETIME RESURRECTS DEVIOUS MAIDS FROM THE HOLLYWOOD GRAVEYARD
A few months back I had heard of a few show pilots being considered, and one of them that I had taken a strong interest in was Marc Cherry's new series Devious Maids. The series, which was created by Cherry, who had previously done Desperate Housewives for eight years, had lots of promise and the best cast I had seen in a long time. But then ABC opted not to pick up the show and many hearts were crushed...until now.
Word on the street is that Lifetime has taken a strong interest in the show and has put in an order of 13 episodes to air in 2013.
“We are thrilled to be getting into business with one of entertainment’s true visionaries,” said Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc and EVP Rob Sharenow in a joint statement. “This show and Marc Cherry’s unique story telling voice perfectly articulate Lifetime’s strategy of attracting top-tier creatives with their most original and exciting projects.”
For those not familiar with the series, it's based on a Mexican telenovela (and produced by former desperate housewife Eva Longoria who will also star) and about four Latina housekeepers who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. The familiar faces playing the maids are Judy Reyes (Scrubs), Dania Ramirez (Heroes, X-Men 3), Roselyn Sanchez (Without A Trace) and Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty). Also attached to the project is Erica Kane herself Susan Lucci (All My Children), Grant Show (Melrose Place) and Mariana Klaveno (True Blood).
With The Client List already one of my guiltiest of pleasures over on Lifetime, 2013 can't get here fast enough. Now if only they could do the same for The Secret Circle.
