JENNIFER LOPEZ DEVELOPING LESBIAN DRAMA FOR ABC FAMILY
With Jennifer Lopez's Idol gig on the line, and her movie career as well as fashion line on life support, it looks like the wealthy entertainer is looking to branch out more on the producer's front.
Word on the street is that J Lo is developing a hour long lesbian drama not for an obvious mess of a channel like Logo, but for ABC Family. The series, which so far does not have a title will follow a pair of mommies—a cop and a teacher—who are raising adopted twins and a biological son, when a delinquent teenage girl comes into their lives.
J-Lo is exec-producing with Simon Fields via her company, Nuyorican Productions, and I'm guessing to bring more viewers J Lo will make the occasional guest appearance? On a side note, I've always said if Jennifer wants to be taken seriously as an actress again when she had two peak moments (in Selena and Out of Sight), she should consider coming to the small screen and doing something with bite, like a multi-episode run on a show like Southland or a cop series developed around her like The Closer. Either way TV is where it's at as far as creating authentic programming with good acting and excellent writing. ABC Family has a great track recoed when it comes to original programming, so I know the series will be in safe hands.
