With all the family drama surrounding Katherine Jackson and her kids over who takes care of Michael's kids, and the recent reports that Janet got into a scuffle with Paris and partook in the scripted denial of enslaving their mother to Nightline, critics are saying this ugly light shed on the only relvant and financially successful Jackson could be damaging on her career.
It was reported today that since Katherine and TJ share custody of MJ's three kids, Janet, Jermaine, Randy and Rebbie have been banned from their mother's house. Also with survaillance footage revealing Janet snatching her niece Paris' phone and Prince leaking text messages to the public of his aunt telling other family members to not allow the kids to see their grandmother, critics are wondering if this side of Janet being shown to the public will ruin her career.
“The Jackson family war is awful for the Janet Jackson brand," Ronn Torossian, CEO of 5WPR said to The Huffington Post. "Allegations of physical confrontations, cops being called to the house and public letters by Michael Jackson Jr. are amazingly damaging for Janet Jackson’s career and public persona ... The Jackson family has been through so much scandal through the years and this family war, if it progresses, could make headlines worldwide for months. One wonders if Janet and her siblings will be seen as simply trying to take money from Michael’s kids."
Personally I agree with marketing entrepreneur Peter Shankman, who says Janet doesn't have anything to worry about in regards to a D.O.A. career because she hasn't had a hit on the music charts for quite sometime.
“If one dead Jackson can come back to life, [Michael’s estate earned over $475 million since his death] then the career of a surviving Jackson -- Janet Jackson -- should never be written off as fatally injured," says marketing consultant, Huffington Post contributor and CEO of Hanft Projects, Adam Hanft.
As I have said before no one truly knows what happened except for what we've heard the kids tweet to the public. It does look bad on the elder Jacksons' front because they're too busy trying to cover up what happened and making their mother read scripted allegation corrections instead of telling the public the truth. I know they don't owe us (the public ) an explanation, but if Michael's two children are unleashing their family issues on a social networking website, then isn't it justified that the other side defend themselves as well? I just hope they nip all of this in the bid and do not MJ's half a billion fortune play a factor in what's going on.
