With Garbage, No Doubt, The Smashing Pumpkins, Hoobastank (lord help us) and Linkin Park all releasing (or already released) new albums this year, 2012 is starting to look like the year of the nostalgia artist.
Word on the street is that a new Destiny's Child album will be dropping this fall. But before you independent women (and some of you queens) start throwing your hands up at me, the songs that will be on the album will not be new material. It will be songs that we've never heard, but previously recorded material that Kelly, Michelle, Beyonce, LaTavia and LeToya did back in the day.
Here is what the group's former manager Matthew Knowles told The Huffington Post about the new album, and if there will be a DC reunion in the works?
“It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it,” Knowles said. “I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible. The hardest thing would be choosing which songs they’re going to do, because we would want to mix it up with solo hits and Destiny’s Child hits. We would have to throw away some number ones from off the set list.”
Since Beyonce and Kelly are pretty busy with their solo careers (Bey is planning to re-release her 4lop album and Kelly is putting the finishing touches on her fourth album), I seriously doubt these ladies will be hitting the road as a group anytime soon, especially since Matthew no longer manages the women.
I'm looking forward to hearing the music but I'm not holding my breath for a reunion tour.
