Finally an artist with some sense. Harlem MC Azealia Banks, who has received some street and indie cred after breaking out with her awesome single 212 as well as an EP (1991) and a mixtape (Fantasea) says that after Nicki Minaj heard her music she invited Azealia to come out and join her on her Pink Friday arena tour.
Instead the rapper, who is now the face of T by Alexander Wang has refused to sell her soul to the Devil and have her hot music tainted by the shitty pop trashiness of Nicki Garbaj has declined her offer and is opting to finish working on her upcoming fall debut with Interscope, Broke With Expensive Taste.
“I got invited to tour with Nicki Minaj in Europe but I can’t go because I have to finish my album during that time,” tweeted Banks.
Instead Nicki will have her YM labelmate Tyga and UK singer Misha B as her opening acts.
I think it was a great idea for Azealia to focus on her music, and not be seduced by the instant success by jumping on the mainstream bandwagon so quickly.
