While we will not know the exact box office numbers of The Dark Knight Rises (in honor of those who were unfortunately killed at a midnight screening in Colorado), but I'm sure the film slayed the competition this weekend. Anne Hathaway, who steals every scene she's in as Selina Kyle/Catwoman says she is interested in doing a Catwoman spin-off film, that's if they can make her a strong character and not plotless jerk off material like Halle Berry was when she last played her.
Keep in mind there's no exclusive reports that Warner Bros. is even interested in doing a solo Catwoman movie, but here's what Anne had to say in an interview with Digital Spy:
"I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it's with the right people," Hathaway said. "She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least."
Like I said the movie industry has yet to learn how to make a solo film starring a strong female chartacter, but if there's anyone who I think can pull it off it's Anne. I know Christopher Nolan said he's done with the Batman franchise, but he said nothing about Catwoman. So if he decides not to direct the film should Warner Bros. give the green light, I would love to see him come on board at least as a producer or consultant of sorts.
Check out the interview below and also answer the poll on my blog as to who was your favorite Catwoman by far.
