Remember a few years back when 50 Cent made a few homophobic comments about shooting up a gay wedding and that if a man can't sexually satisfy a woman they should kill themselves? Well it seems his growing "bromance" with legendary queen Floyd Gayweather may have changed his tune.
In a recent interview in the UK (they always have to go overseas to give their true comments as if it won't make it back to the States), the rapper/entrepreneur jumped on the hip hop bandwagon and commended Frank Ocean for his same-sex honesty and even showed his support for marriage equality.
Here's what 50 told MTV UK: “Anyone that has an issue with Frank Ocean is an idiot. I think Frank Ocean is a talented artist, I think he’s created material that made me know his name, that impressed me, with things he said on a song like ‘Novacane.’”
“I could care less about what his personal preference is in the bedroom,” the rapper added. ”I’m sure the gay community will go out and support Frank Ocean. They have to. The more successful that project is now, it’s going to leave people in the position where they can actually say, ‘Look, I’m gay.’”
“To each his own,” he continues. “People make choices, you can live your life your way.”
And here's what he had to say about gay marriage: “Obama is for same-sex marriage. If the president is saying that, then who am I to go the other way?”
it would be nice to have a mind of your own instead of completely agreeing with what your President has to say. If you are truly for gay marriage and artists coming out, then what I would really like to see is you and other people like some of the majors and all these other rappers with so-called labels sign these artists.
While I like the fact that his experience of being in the music industry has forced him to grow up a bit, and that his bigotry has waned, personally I think this is all for publicity because no one is checking for Fiddy anymore.
