There's some sad news in the world of porn today as we've lost another one. I have been avoiding talking about this because I wasn't sure if it was true or not (especially for the past few months there's been so many death hoaxes flodding the social media sites), but apparently porn star and Long Island native Erik Rhodes died this morning at 5 am in his sleep of an apparent heart attack. He was 30-years-old.
The actor/director, real name James Elliott Naughtin recently began shooting with Raging Stallion Studios after it merged with Falcon in early 2011. His videography includes over 40 scenes filmed over the last 8 years.
If you have followed his career over the years, then you've read many of his troubling blogs on his tumblr where he often talked about his inner demons and admitted to using bodybuilding steroids and club drugs like GHB and crystal meth frequently —"I’m waiting until i pop. Or my liver to fails… which every comes first."
At the end of the day everyone has their inner demons that they struggle everyday to tame, and while Erik died so young, the impact he left on the porn world will never be forgotton. One of the things I liked about Erik was that he was one of the rare porn stars who was completely honest about who he was, and in his blog posts he was never afraid to reveal all aspects of his personal life. So many "celebrities" today are so fixated on giving people a fantasy, but never willing, in this reality age in which we live show all of who they are. Erik didn't give a fuck what you thought of him because there wasn't anything you couldn't say about him that he didn't say about himself. That is what I call a true New Yorker and I could relate to that..
I had been reading all the Facebook posts and tweets from his fans, people who have taken photos of him and his fellow porn peers, and everyone says how much of a nice guy he was. He was more loved than he realized, and hopefully Erik finds the peace he were looking for up with the angels up in heaven. R.I.P. buddy.
