FOR THE RECORD QUEEN LATIFAH DID NOT COME OUT OF THE CLOSET
So after Queen Latifah performed at Long Beach Pride, many blogs (including mine) speculated that this would be the moment the rapper/singer/actress/producer would fnally come out of that celluloid closet she's been hiding in since playing Cleo a little too well in Set It Off. Instead she opted to continue to keep company with her racks of clothes because as of now the Queen doesn't plan on coming out of the closet anytime soon.
Here's what Latifah told Entertainment Weekly:
To me, doing a gay pride show is one of the most fun things. My first show that paid more than $10,000 was in a gay club on New Year's Eve in San Francisco. When people are going through hatred and bullying, the biggest thing to fight that is love... So that's all I encouraged my audience to do that night: to share their light and share their love. Period.
I remember I was listening recently to Paul Rosenberg on Hot 97 interview the cast of Single Ladies, and he asked LisaRaye about Latifah (who produces the show) performing at Long Beach Pride and the rumors regarding her sexuality. LisaRaye replied by saying that if she came on his show then he should ask her, and that Latifah is entitled to her privacy. Paul said at this point in life being gay should not be an issue and I totally agree with that. Denying your sexuality only makes it seem like you being gay is a problem, not a way to protect your privacy. I'm not saying you need to give us details on how you tame the pussy in your bedroom. That I believe should be kept quiet. But at a time when so many kids are being bullied and we have so many actors passively mentioning their same sex attractions based on the characters they are playing, I don't see why hiding in the closet would still be acceptable on your part.
