FIRST LOOK: ANGELINA JOLIE AS MALEFICIENT

With the success of shows like Once Upon a Time and Charlize Theron's wickedly fierce evil queen in Snow White and The Huntsman, it should be no surprise that there is a long list of fairy tale-themed movies coming our way. I'm still waiting for Hansel & Gretel starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton to come out (it's been moved to 2013). That being said a while ago when I heard that Angelina Jolie would be starring as Maleficient in the upcoming film, Mistress of All Evil, I thought it was perfect casting. Not because she's come off like an ice queen in the last couple of years, but I think she embodies what an evil sorceress would look like.

The film is being directed by Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland) and also stars Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team), Elle Fanning (Super 8), Sam Riley (On the Road) and many others.

For those who were deprived of fairy tales, Maleficient is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villainess from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. In the film, it will focus more on the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora (Fanning).

Here is what Angelina told MTV back in 2010: "I would love to [make 'Maleficent']. It's all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl, she was my favorite.. And Tim [Burton]... the chance to work with him would just be extraordinary."

Cannot wait to see this film. With the technology we have today I believe it's the perfect time to bring some of our favorite fairy tales to life. I just hope they work on making a great story instead of focusing so much on the effects (which I thought was the reason Mirror Mirror and SW&TH weren't excellent films). Mistress of All Evil will be shot in 3D and will be in theaters in March, 2014
