DEADMAU5 COVERS ROLLING STONE; STILL FINDS THE TIME TO DISS MADONNA

In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, international DJ Deadmau5 continued to give his opinion on Madonna, who he feels is using the EDM community to stay relevant.

You want to be ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ and ‘funky grandma’? Fine. It’s not my place to say you’re irrelevant. If you’re gonna come into my world, at least do it with a little more dignity. I understand she has millions more fans, and is way more successful than I’ll ever be. But it’s like talking about slavery at a fucking blues concert. It’s inappropriate.

In the interview the 31-year-old DJ also found the time to diss David Guetta and Skrillex

"David Guetta has two iPods and a mixer and he just plays tracks – like, ‘Here’s one with Akon, check it out!’ Even Skrillex [a friend of Zimmerman’s] isn’t doing anything too technical. He has a laptop and a MIDI recorder, and he’s just playing his shit … People are, thank God, smartening up about who does what – but there’s still button-pushers getting paid half a million. And not to say I’m not a button-pusher. I’m just pushing a lot more buttons.”

I don't really see the problem with Madonna referring to ecstasy at a rave, when last time I checked drugs are apparent at these kind of events. Whether Deadmau5 wants to see it or not (either it's shade or a lack of a musical education), but Madonna has always been a contributor to the EDM world, since she experimented with the sound long before your current US crop of manufactured pop stars jumped on the bandwagon three years ago.

But if you're going to go at Madonna for tainting the dance music world, you should be crucified for performing at the Grammy's having non-EDM artists Foo Fighters represent the dance music community with your remix of one of their songs. You could have had someone who has a true love for the EDM world like Eva Simons, Kelly Rowland, Kelis, or Robyn up there repping the community.  Instead you were looking to gain some crossover fans as well. So if you're going to dish it out (and I am a fan of Deadmau5' music, then you should be able to take a taste of your own medicine.

As for his opinions on Skrillex and David Guetta, I have to agree 1000% that these clowns who are basically human iPod jukeboxes, are becoming successful in the dance music world when there are people far more talented. Deadmau5 needs to worry about putting his own stamp on the dance music world instead of bashing other people who have become successful.
