While Tyrannosaurus Banks is busy reconstructing the reality competition mess that is America's Next Top Model, word on the street is that her longtime frenemy and legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell has signed on to be a part of a modeling show of her own.
The Oxygen network has announced that they have put their coins behind a new series called The Face, where the winner of the show will score a national spokesmodel gig for a major brand. The show will group the contestants into teams where they will be mentored by established models (a la The Voice). are mentored by established models. Naomi Campbell will be one of the mentors for the group of fledgling models.
“The Face is a fresh new series that delivers all the elements our audience craves: fashion, beauty and drama,” Rod Aissa, the network’s Senior Vice President of Original Programming and Development said in a statement. “Oxygen has been looking for the next ideation in the modeling genre and this project delivers it.”

I think anything outside of that mess called ANTM is a breath of fresh air. If I had a choice of other stunners who should mentor the models, I would say (depending on how many groups they divide them into) Janice Dickinson, Cindy Crawford and Tyson Beckford. Cyndi because she can be the sweet, nurturing type. Janice for her outspokenness and brutal honesty. If they opt to add male models to the mix, Tyson would be perfect because not only is he great to look at, but he has a personality. I liked him when he was on the short-lived modeling series Make Me A Supermodel, and I was kind of bummed when Bravo canceled it after two seasons.
I should also add that it's about goddamn time Naomi joined the reality TV world. Besides Tyra, we have Elle Macpherson currently hosting Fashion Star on NBC and Heidi Klum has hosted 10 seasons of Project Runway. Iman recently hosted a fashion show on Bravo, but I have a feeling that show was canceled. I say if Naomi wants to really piss Tyra off, the producers of The Face should hire Miss Jay to teach the models how to be fierce on the runway. So with that being said, I've got my fingers crossed that The Face will do what ANTM has failed to do for 19 cycles - actually launch the winner's modeling career
