KATHARINE McPHEE - TOUCH ME (Jump Smokers Remix)
As a fan of NYC theater (since New York is my hometown), I had high expectations for a show like Smash, which has been failing to bring the drama like it needs to be bought. I've also been a fan of Katharine McPhee since she was a runner-up on American Idol season 5, and I still have high hopes for her career (whether it's singing, acting or both). When I heard her single Touch Me (which is from said series), the song that was produced by Ryan Tedder (who made a cameo in the episode where Katharine's character performed the song for the first time), it sounded to me like a generic dance/pop song that had no way of standing out from all the other generic dance music that's flooding U.S. radio that's mostly owned by ClearChannel.
So when one of my fave DJ/Producers Jump Smokers got their hands on the track and put out a fierce remix, I was too excited for words. I'm still bummed their dance remixs of Mariah Carey's entire Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album never saw the light of day, but I thank the stars their remix of Touch Me did.
Check it out below, and fingers crossed the second season of Smash will be 1000 times better than the current one.
