When it was in pilot form a few months back there was alot of buzz surrounding the new sitcom The New Normal. Now that it has been given the greenlight to become a series, the exclusive first promo (via BroadwayWorld) for the show is out.
Justin Bartha (The Hangover) and Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon) play a gay couple who have a child through a surrogate. Ellen Barkin also stars along with Real Housewives of Atlanta breakout star NeNe Leakes. The series, which is produced by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) is set to premiere in August after the Winter Olympics on NBC.
I'm glad to see some new shows on TV featuring gay characters, and I'm hoping the writing will have some of that twisted wit that I enjoy from Ryan's body of work. I'm also hoping that NeNe will keep the rich bragging to a minimum.
