DISCO LEGEND DONNA SUMMER HAS PASSED AWAY
Now this is some shocking news I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around. Legendary disco icon Donna Summer passed away this morning after her battle with cancer. She was 63 years old.
Donna Summer became the Queen of Disco in the 70's after her esquisite collaborations with producer Georgio Moroder on classics such as Last Dance, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, and I Feel Love.
Sources close to Summer tell TMZ ... the singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. We spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago ... who says she didn't seem too bad.
The 5-time Grammy winner, who kept her battle with cancer quiet was trying to finish up her new album which was supposed to be a dance record. While some may remember her as Steve Urkel's Aunt Oona from Altuna on Family Matters, she'll always be one of my all-time favorite dance singers that I was raised to listen to by my mother who always played disco around the house.
This is most certainly a shock for me to hear such sad news and 2012 is becoming the year of the lost legends.
