CIARA REVEALS TITLE OF NEW ALBUM AND FIRST SINGLE
It's been quite sometime since we've heard new music from Ciara, who has been locked away recording her comeback album under the guise of L.A. Reid. The singer, who has a role in Adam Sandler's shitty movie That's My Boy revealed in an interview with MTV that her album will be called One Woman Army and that the first single, titled Sweat will be released to the public in a matter of days.
Here is what songwriter Ali Tamposi had to say in an interview back in March with BMI about working with Ciara on her new record:
“Right now I’m working on a Ciara album, and she’s been great. It’s Livvi Franc and I who are doing most of the writing for it, and it’s been really cool and laid back so that’s been fun. There’s a lot of angst and edge in [Ciara’s] music and we’ve tried to be really conceptual and write things that haven’t been done before and real strong women empowerment songs. This what I’ve been really wanting to do: Focus on one project. So we’ve been doing that the last few weeks now.”
“I really wanted to use, for years, the title “One Woman Army,” and I just used it with Ciara. I had it initially as “One Man Army,” and I changed it and it’s [about] a strong, really independent woman that if you’re going to be a part of her life you have to be strong, a fighter, a solider. It’s a really strong song. We’re working on that right now.”
I've always saw the potential in Ciara, who in my opinion as a performer is the female Chris Brown. She's one of the sickest dancers out there, and even though she doesn't have the best singing voice, I've always thought that since Britney has yet to recover fully from her 2007 mental breakdown and give us a half-decent stage performance, Ciara should be the one to take the crown. As a performer she's up there with J Lo, but I feel what has hurt her and those three flop albums is that the material isn't up to par. Musically I've always thought she should do a mix of pop, dance, futuristic R&B and electro. I kind of see Ciara as a cross between Britney and Aaliyah, and I just hope with One Woman Army that Ciara finally gets the attention and accolades she deserves.
