AZEALIA BANKS TALKS ABOUT BEING AN ANGRY LITTLE TWAT IN VIBE MAGAZINE

Rising Harlem singer/rapper Azealia Banks (top pic by photographer Michael Flores), who has been getting recognized more for her rap beefs (with Lil Kim, T.I., Nicki Garbaj and Iggy Azealia to name a few) than her music recently sat down for an interview with Vibe Magazine.

In the article she talked about attending LaGuardia High School with Nicki, and also features a quote from her drama teacher, who went on the record to admit he saw more ambition in Azealia than Nicki: “I don’t remember Nicki having the level of ambition Azealia manifested to me”.

Don't worry, I see the ambition too. The only ambition Nicki has is the millions that Young Money has invested in making her the manufactured pop clown that she is corrently.

Azealia also talked about auditioning for Damon Dash and Juelz Santana, but was rejected. Also in the article Azealia cockily said that she is light years ahead of her chart-topping peers and what they are currently doing she can do better.
If this were any other chick I would tell them to go and have several seats, but I have seen Azealia perform live at Coachella and her songs are definitely hot. She has the talent and skills to definitely go far in the music business, and her songs aren't shitty, commercial hip pop like Nicki's so in my book that's also a good thing. I just want her to finish the long-awaited EP and start performing, just so the rest of the world can witness how talented she is.

Check out excerpts from the Vibe interview below...
On who people think she is

Everyone thinks I’m this arrogant little twat, but I’m actually very levelheaded and real,” she says, unnerved by her unfolding homecoming. “Whether you’re from the States or London, my music will make you feel me.”

On auditioning for Damon Dash and Juelz Santa

Azealia Banks showed up for her big break a few years early. It’s 2008, and the Harlem-born rap rookie is dilly-dallying on the music video set for Juelz Santana’s ’hood carol “Jingle Bellz,” red peacoat beaming, knapsack bulging, lip gloss poppin’. She thumbs her Blackberry while awaiting an impromptu audition for her around-the-way heroes, only to be brushed off before uttering a single syllable. “I was prepared to spit for Dame Dash, but he kind of just went ‘Nah!’ and walked away. Womp”. Juelz looked at me like, ‘Whose little sister is here? Please get her the f-ck out.’”

On her music and sound

Not to shade anyone, but what I’m doing is so progressive and so many years ahead of my peers,” announces Banks, who’s working with Brit producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Cee-Lo) and soulful hipster Lana Del Ray for her first LP. “I do whatever the f-ck I want… even if someone did it before I’m gonna do it better.”

Update: Azealia will drop her The Fantastic project mixtape this summer along with her long-awaited 1991 EP. The mixtape's first single, Jumanji will premiere on Friday and Azealia is reshooting the video for Liquorice, originally directed by Thierry Mugler (and frequent Lady Gaga) designer Nicola Formicetti.

And if that's not enough music, her full-length debut Broke With Expensive Taste is due this September on Interscope Records.
