A while back when I saw the track listing to Scissor Sisters new album Magic Hour, one of the songs I was really excited to hear based on the title was Let's Have a Kiki, because for those of you who don't know, "kiki" is a gay term for "cutting up" and "having a good time with your friends." Here is what SS member Ana Matronic says is the definition of Kiki: “A kiki is a party/for calming all your nerves/We’re spilling tea and dishing just desserts when they deserve.”
I also imagined it as sounding like a 90's bitch track that wouldn't sound out of place if sung by underground legends such as Laritza Dumont, Roxy, or Miss Fernando and boy was I right. Many have tried (I'm talking about you Madonna and Gaga), but leave it to the gays to truly serve it for the kids.
