For the past six years of Rihanna's career, the Bajan beauty has put out a new album every year and toured extensively behind it. I can't tell you how many times I've said this girl seriously needs to take a break and charge her batteries, or she will end up like Britney Spears or worse - Whitney Houston or Amy Winehouse.
Now RiRi's brother Rorrey is worried that after releasing her album Loud in 2010, follwed by a world tour and immediately after a new album Talk That Talk and a role in the upcoming action movie Battleship, his sister may be on the verge of burning herself out and he wants her to move back to her native Barbados.
The 24-year-old singer's little brother Rorrey says that when his sister is in Barbados, the star is able to relax and unwind from all the chaos that comes from being a superstar.
"Ri tells us she is homesick and misses Barbados and the family a lot. I wish she'd come home and live here for a while," her brother Rorrey told The Daily Star.
"She's exhausted and sometimes works 13 hours a day. She started partying at 14-years old, going to clubs and drinking. It's the Caribbean island life. Everyone just has fun, you know what I mean."
Rorrey also added: "Ri loves to party and I'm the same. But if she looks depressed it's because of how hard she's been working and she needs to come home."
While I'm glad that Rihanna has someone in her corner that is looking out for her, I don't see the singer moving back to her native Barbados anytime soon. Word on the street is that she is looking to put down roots in London, since that is where she will be shotting her new fashion reality show Sky Living.
"Rihanna is coming back to Britain to shoot her Sky Living reality show and has decided to settle down a bit while she's over," a source said. "Although there may be occasional trips away she'll be based in London. Rihanna has instructed her team to find a mansion in or around the capital.
"Earlier this year she considered buying a property in east London but now she's looking elsewhere as she's decided the pad will need gates to keep away superfans and photographers."
While I can understand that Def Jam is happy that at least one of their artists is making them money, there's no reason to wear them out by having them extensively put out new music every nine months. Yes RiRi works hard and we all love to dance and sing along to her music. But what good is she if she's A) committed in a mental ward or B) dead (god forbid).
