USHER GIVES MUSIC CRITICS A PEEK INTO HIS NEW ALBUM

UK music critics got a first listen to Usher's upcoming album The Shanertance (huh?), and based on the few songs they got to hear, Ursh's follow-up to Versus is being hailed as the male version of Rihanna's Talk That Talk. The new album is being compared to his 2004 album Confessions, which was the best record of his career. As for what fans can expect to hear from Mr. Entertainment, a collection of hot dance tracks mixed with some genre-pushing R&B, which we got a taste of from his Diplo-produced first single, Climax. Among the songs the critics got to hear: Numb, which is being compared to the hit David Guetta single, Without You, the bouncy Looking For Myself, the ballad Dive, which is reminiscent to Confessions, the Reggae-esque Sins of a Father, the uplifting Show Me, the uplifting dance track Scream, which begs you to not take things for granted and live your life to it's fullest potential, and last, but certainly not least the trancy-industrial track Euphoria, which will most likely solidify Usher as one of the rare artists in an era where everything is all about the single.

I've stated many times that I'm not a big fan of Usher's music, but if the songs are hot I'll definitely show some love. Based on what I've been researching, it looks like Usher is trying to give us a cohesive album, and not a collection of hot singles just to make money. The industry has been dominated by singles artists for far too long, and I think it's about time things got a little shook. As for comparing him to Rihanna's Talk That Talk, I don't think that's a great comparison, since her new album is a mess. Sure she sold 5 million copies in the UK alone, but her latest album hasn't produced any big hits except We Found Love. And besides about three other songs on her album, the rest sounds like filler from her previous four records that should have remained as such.
