I finally got around to watching Monday night's episode of Rupaul's Drag Race and in the main challenge the queens had to create their own gay pride float in the colors of the LGBT rainbow flag. Willam turned it in both challenges (the Wet T-Shirt contest and the main), while New York drag stars Jiggly Caliente and Milan struggled with their floats which ended up having them lip-synching for their lives in an all-out East Coast battle royale.
What I really liked about this episode was that many of the queens took the time out to educate Jiggly about gay history, including the 1969 Stonewall riots. While I'm all about teaching the younger generation like many older queens have taught me, what bothered me was that Jiggly knew nothing about gay history and the bitch is from New York City. I also shook my head at the fact that many young queens who have it much easier than I did growing up in the 90's will only get their education from that one scene in the show since Logo has had many an opportunity to educate the kids who are getting their information from TV (who reads anymore?) but instead they want to show reruns of old shows from other Viacom-affiliated networks.
As we get halfway through the fourth season, my favorites are Chad Michaels (for her elegance and wisdom), Willam (for her hilarity and bitchiness) Latrice Royale (for her no-holds barred southern fierceness) and Sharon Needles (for not giving a fuck) and those are my top three picks for the finale.
