NEW AALIYAH ALBUM ON THE WAY

I have some great news. It has been almost 11 years since we lost one of the most influential R&B/pop singers in the game Aaliyah, and now comes word that a new Aaliyah album is in the works. Producer Jeffey “J. Dub” Walker, who co-wrote the tracks “I Refuse” and “What If” for her Aaliyah’s 2001 self-titled album, tweeted the following yesterday: “Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called ‘Steady Ground’ I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album:)”

Aaliyah's brother Rashad Haughton heard the news and tweeted the following today: “There is no official album bring released and supported by the Haughton family.”

It may not be supported by the Haughton family but that doesn't mean if the music is owned by a label that it won't get released at all. Amy Winehouse's demos were released with new producers and gurst rappers added to the mix and it was one of the greatest albums since Back to Black. I personally would welcome a new album from Aaliyah but only if Missy & Timbaland were involved in reworking the singer's old demos.
If Aaliyah had not died in a tragic plane crash after filming her Rock The Boat music video in the Bahamas, she would have been 33 years old (her b day is in January). Check out Steady Ground below...
